Do you ever feel like you’ve “hit the wall”? Perhaps one of these areas may sound or feel familiar to you…
• Emotional… where you’re absolutely overwhelmed with the challenge you’re facing and the emotional swings are so wide that it’s hard to grasp reality and understand HOW to move forward…Feelings GRIP the moment and paralyze any movement at all…
• Physical energy or pain…where you find yourself asking the question, “The challenge in front of me is so great…HOW can I find the strength to keep on going?”
• Financial…where you’re wondering HOW and where the resources are going to come from in order to meet and overcome the significant obstacles that you’re facing..?
Maybe I am completely alone on these sorts of issues, but I think not. I confess that there have been periodic times in the last three months where I have personally felt that I had “hit the wall” in one area or another. I may have known WHAT I have to do from an intellectual standpoint. That’s the easy part. But for me, many times the challenge is not WHAT to do but HOW to go about doing it!!!! As the primary caregiver and bread-winner, HOW do I navigate successfully through this ordeal facing Irene and our family called Primary Amyloidosis?
Here’s a word picture: I am watching Irene face a physical, emotional and spiritual Mount Everest climb with very little equipment and appropriate cold weather clothing. But there is no escaping the journey that she must take. The defining question is “HOW is she doing it”? HOW does she draw upon yet to be realized, resources for a journey that is long, hard and potentially impossible to reach?
Following her challenge are my challenges as I setup “base camps” along the way…
• ”HOW do I support Irene during this process?”
o What does she need?
o How does it get delivered?
• How do we get life back to some sense of normalcy? … and can we?
We don’t have the answer, but we are learning the answer.
And here it is: “GOD INCREASES OUR CAPACITY TO POSSESS HIM”.
As we appropriate biblical faith into our circumstances, Jesus, in his mysterious and miraculous way, brings our needed resources to bear…whatever those needs may be and in just the right way…because we know that God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. We know that “His way is perfect.” (Psalm 18:30). However desperate the need is, he will always show up…especially when we ask him to do so. God then gets the glory that he so aptly deserves because we certainly can’t take any of the credit for overcoming the challenge on our own.
HE GROWS US TO CONTINUALLY POSSESS HIM. And He is all we need.

Irene had a restful morning and then an appointment this afternoon with her NEW Primary Care Physician. She is a breath of fresh air compared with her prior experience and Irene is looking forward to working with her in the days to come!!
Another specific prayer request: Jocelyn mentioned “little mom” in her journal entry last night. Irene weighs 28 lbs less today than she did on the hospital admission date of April 30th. This is one BIG reason that we’re all anxious to see her keep food down and put on some weight!!
When we hit the emotional, physical, financial or yet to be identified “wall”, we rejoice in the God of the Bible who grows us to appropriate and possess Him. We know that he hears the desperate cries of his people and responds in a loving and marvelous way.
