Well Wishes From Sue Martinez

Our family has been out of town for a week and have missed reading the updates on Irene and Dave.  Thanks so much for this website – it is really helpful – especially to know how to pray specifically.  Irene – its been confirmed by many that you are the Proverbs 31 woman.  I’ve always felt that and have been inspired on many occasions by your smile and determination to do what God has asked you to – whether you felt like it or not.  This situation is certainly another demonstration of your faith – despite the certain difficulty that you are experiencing.  Just know that you are loved and are missed and being prayed for moment by moment.

With love, Sue

Well Wishes From Dave & Bev McQuade

Dear Dave and Irene,  I felt so concerned as I read your entry today.  I am sitting here trying to think of something to say, but I just want you all to know that we still care and we are still praying. I saved the words to a song that was given out at my Ladies Bible study and I thought I’d send them along to you. It is called, “Standing in the Gap” by Babbie Mason

I heard that you were hurting
That you were suffering pain
But I didn’t dare just turn my head
And look the other way
For my heart is aching, too
Let me help you bear your burden
That’s the least that I can do

CHORUS
I’ll be standing in the gap for you
Just remember someone, smewhere
Is praying for you
Calling out your name
Praying for your strength
I’ll be standing in the gap for you

Right now you may be troubled
But everything will work out fine
For the Spirit knows before you speak
What is on your heart and mind
So I’ll be interceding
‘Til your’e standing strong again
The peace that passes understanding
Is going to be yours, but until then
CHORUS

BRIDGE
So hang on my friend
It won’t be long
And you’ll have the strength
To carry on
For when two or three are walking together
It will be a much lighter load
For isn’t that what a brother and sister are for

CHORUS

Dave,  Your messages and the girls journals have touched my heart so often.  I have seen the words of this song being lived out through you and your family and friends on this website.  We continue to pray for God to carry you and Irene and your daughters in His arms and for Irene to improve and for the pain to stop.  Love,

Dave & Bev

He Is In Control

1.30 p.m…

Hi everyone,

We’re not in control, but He is…

I checked on Irene early Friday morning and made a quick trip to our home.  After taking care of some “to do” items and running a couple of errands, I picked JoAnna up at the SJ Airport and we arrived at UCSF around 6 p.m.

Just about that time, Irene began experiencing more discomfort and pain than I have observed to date.  The med teams sprung into action!  JoAnna and I didn’t leave UCSF until almost midnight.  (Jocelyn is in Dallas for a project and returning to UCSF later today).

The medical teams have consulted with us and they continue to do all that they can to support Irene during this challenging time.  They’re young, smart and care deeply.

There is a lot that we don’t know.  Here is what we do know.  God is in control. He directs our steps.  He loves us and orders our days. We cannot begin to fathom how great a God that He is, other than through the living person of Jesus Christ, who comforts us in our times of pain.  We know that he will never leave us nor forsake us.  Our hope is in him…

We are grateful for your continued support…

Dave

who directs you in the way you should go.
