David and Bruce Stewart

We recently received this email from a new friend named David Stewart…

Dave,
We just found out, after six months of baffling med problems, that my youngest brother, Bruce (age 51), has amyloidosis. It has had a deadly effect on his heart and stomach, and he’s in a cardio unit in Vancouver, BC, barely hanging on. Another brother who lives close by told me this a.m. that Bruce had 2 cardiac arrests over the wknd, and his heart is only working at 30% capacity.

It was very timely and a blessing to find your site this morning as I was looking for guidance in prayer. Please know that I will remember to pray for Irene. Your prayers for Bruce and his family (4 kids, aged 13 – 24) would be greatly appreciated as well.

Here is an update we received yesterday…

Dave,

Things are looking a bit better than on Monday. The docs are pretty sure that too high a dosage of some med helped trigger the 2 heart attacks Bruce had over the wknd. In any case, he has stabilized a lot, and is getting chemo, which they hope will arrest the spread of the amyloids. Then they will have some breathing space for other treatments.

Other good news: Bruce’s daughter Shannon was supposed to be getting married Aug 8, but they thought it wise to move the date up in case Bruce’s condition got even worse. The wedding took place in the hospital chapel on Tuesday, and by all reports was a blessed event.

Irene is having a rough evening following dialysis. The nausea is RAGING and she is experiencing severe cramping in her legs and stomach.
