Walking by Faith

I wish I could claim that I said it first…but I didn’t…

We live by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7

It’s nothing short of amazing that Irene’s Journey of Faith is a reality.  Thank you for your support along the way.  Irene didn’t ask for the assignment nor does she deserve the pain and suffering that accompany the trek.  But she is faithful.

So, here’s another verse which addresses the mystery of our faith…

A man’s (or woman’s) steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?
Proverbs 20:24

We are learning that lesson well…walking, at times, literally step by step and moment by moment.

Last night was rough for Irene…spending most of it awake with the nausea manifesting itself over and over again… She felt better today and looks forward to tomorrow.

In the meantime, we walk by faith, not by sight…abundantly realizing that God directs our steps.  We cannot reason our way to “understanding”…so we humbly kneel and worship the One who gives us faith.

Well Wishes from Paul Francoeur

Dave and Irene,

I wanted to reach out to you today. Irene, I just became aware of your plight. I’ve known Dave for about 6 years now. Mostly in a business capacity but have always thought the world of him. I knew he would have someone as special as you in his life because he was always so kind and considerate to me.

My wife recently lost her best friend to breast cancer after a long fight. 5 years to be exact. Her friend mostly ignored the Doctor’s orders and the cancer overtook her. We prayed that she’d recover and prayed that she’d listen and take her doctor’s instructions to heart.

From my wife Stephanie and myself, we send the warmest of wishes and pray for a cure and for Irene’s speedy recovery. Anything short of your doctor telling you to jump off a bridge …….. listen to him/her.

Snail’s Pace

Snail's Pace

Tuesday 5.30 a.m…

Sometimes life is described as moving along at a snail’s pace. The mail service sometimes takes a bad rap as “snail mail” because it may be slow in nature compared to internet “email”. Our instant gratification culture demands action…on “my” terms and “NOW”!!

I drove Irene to dialysis yesterday morning and later picked her up. She continues to respond favorably to the antibiotic and for that we’re grateful. She was very weary, cold and nauseated but rested for most of the day. We hope to learn updated blood test results soon.

We are reminded in two different books of the Bible that His way is perfect…I guess it’s there twice just in case we didn’t get it right the first time

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
2 Samuel 22:31

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
Psalm 18:30

We cannot control outcomes and must be disciplined with a counter-culture perspective. Even though at times the journey seems like it’s traveling at a snail’s pace, our confidence is in God’s timing – not ours.

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:4
