As we wait patiently (or impatiently!!!) for the amyloid’s retreat into remission, I was thinking of words describing Irene’s spirit and came up with just a few ….

Persevering
Determined
Patient
Strong
Resilient
Courageous
Mentor
Heroine
Optimistic
Hopeful
Humble
Servant
Giving
Caring
Meek
Unassuming
Modest
Unpretentious
Discreet
Disarming
Transparent
Loving
Tender
Devoted
Kindhearted
Gentle
Hospitable
Faithful
Joyful
Victorious

However, trudging along Irene’s treacherous journey, what words DON’T describe her?
Bitter
Harsh
Angry
Cynical
Sarcastic
Complaining
Negative
Pessimistic
Blaming
Selfish
Defeated
Depressed
And why doesn’t she characterize those attributes?
I’ve heard it said that in order to live ABOVE one’s circumstances, our ATTITUDE determines our ALTITUDE.
Irene’s attitude and altitude are “beyond this world” ….

for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 4:4b
Many words accurately describe Irene’s spirit; her prevailing attitude, however, is one of UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER and LOVE for the One who is beyond this world.
