Thanks for checking in.
Today Irene met @ UCSF with Dr. Lloyd Damon, her oncologist and treating physician related to the Primary Amyloidosis. He’s been treating her since June, 2007, when she was first diagnosed. Thankfully, the amyloidosis remains in remission and she’s now beyond the 5 year mark…YAY GOD!
Irene also met with Dr. Charles Eicher, her vascular surgeon, related to the ongoing and significant pain she’s experiencing during dialysis. You’ll recall that Irene has a cadaver vein which Dr. Eichler surgically implanted. His recommendation is for her to be admitted this coming Tuesday morning for an ANGIOGRAM which will give a more comprehensive picture of what is going on before he can recommend a mitigation strategy. So, Tuesday will be a LONG day……..her admittance is at 6 am…….last year when she had the exact same procedure it turned into an overnight stay…..we’ll just have to see how things develop that day. It’s really challenging for her since she has dialysis on Monday and Wednesday……so she’s “beat up” on both sides of a very invasive procedure since the entry point is an artery in her groin region.
In the meantime she has a “makeup” tomorrow…….which means more time since she terminated early yesterday…….so she needs to get through tomorrow and Monday’s dialysis treatment…..hopefully recover well enough for a 4 am wake up call on Tuesday morning. We debated staying in SF at a hotel but logistics and her challenge following dialysis on Monday cause us to conclude that she’s better off staying close to home…..we’ll just make the 90 minute drive at 4.30 am Tuesday….
Pray all goes well………thanks for caring,
Dave
