Irene drove herself to and from dialysis this morning but came home EXTREMELY fatigued and rested for the balance of the day.
Her spirit remains very optimistic but she’s becoming increasingly aware of the challenge before her because her energy level isn’t consistent. One day it’s up; another it’s down… We hope this trend reverses itself soon.

Compared to yesterday, Irene’s energy was much better today. She was able to run several errands, visit a garden nursery and meet Marilyn Miller at Starbucks. The nausea capitulated to a low roar and for that we’re grateful! She even prepared a delicious fish dinner!!

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.
Irene drove herself to and from dialysis treatment this morning but afterward her energy was diminished and she rested for the balance of the day. The chronic nausea continues to be a momentous challenge. We hope her energy returns and the nausea disappears as she reflects on her favorite verse and longs for a new morning ….
